read-a-thon 2021!

Calling all South students to READ, READ, READ for South School! The READ-A-THON is a fun event where students track their reading every day for two weeks and have family and friends pledge to sponsor them and help raise money for reading initiatives at South. READ-A-THON runs from Monday, January 18 to Sunday, January 31.

The first step is to print your child’s GO BLUE Packet at home - click HERE to download (one for each student). If you need a printed copy provided to you, click HERE. Review the packet with your child and get ready to read and raise money for South School!

There are lots of fun activities planned for the students over the next 2 weeks!

  • Thursday, January 21: Author Visit: Shannon Hale.

  • Friday, January 22: Pajama Flashlight Reading Day! Have your child wear pajamas and bring a flashlight to school.

  • Monday, January 25: Halfway prize - Bring in your Halfway Prize Coupon to your teacher to get a prize!

  • Friday, January 29: Book Character Dress Up Day! Dress up as your favorite book character.

  • Friday, January 29: Bookmark Contest ends.

In addition, there will be some great special guests virtually reading to the students throughout the weeks!

You can make your donations from pledges online HERE.

Please contact READ-A-THON committee chairs Maria Magliacano and Vicki Pugh if you have any questions. Have fun!
